Christine and Terry Becker have taken over as new owners at Finlayson Lake Resort and Campground.
The couple hail from Southern Ontario, where they most recently operated a hoof trimming business for cattle in addition to their 200-acre farm at Drumbo, in the Kitchener-London area. A tenant took on the farm for the summer so the Beckers could make the move North.
As avid outdoors people, with connections to the North (Terry has a nephew who runs Indian Lake Lodge near Vermillion Bay, and nieces in Dryden), they could not resist the siren call of the wilderness. Fishing and hunting are among their favourite activities, and that's the clientele they will serve at Finlayson, which features 10 cabins, a bunkhouse, store and 25 campsites (half of which have full services), on the shores of the pristine Lake.
The Beckers arrived in mid-June, and are thoroughly appreciating the warm Northwestern hospitality. They mentioned Geurt and Ruth Ehelebe (at the resort) and Lorraine Zacharias (TD-Canada Trust), in particular, for their help as they make the transition from southern farm life to northern resort operators.

Christine has worked in the Technology and Telecommunications industry for 15+ years taking on roles in marketing, sales, finance and administration. She is
currently employed at one of the top companies in Canada as an Executive
Assistant. She is also a bookeeper of the farm and resort businesses that they own together. In her spare time she's an amateur bird watcher, enjoys photographing wildlife and nature, and just being in the great outdoors.
Terry and Christine have two daughters - Brittany, who teaches grade 3 in London, England. You may have met her as she ran the resort store for the month of August 2009. Breanne is in her last year of practical nursing and will graduate the fall
2010. They have high hopes that the girls will eventually take their turn in helping to
run the resort.
For all of the people we met in 2009, we thank you for making us feel welcome and have already made great
friendships that we will cherish forever. And for those of you we haven't met yet, see you in 2010 for another good year
of fishing and many stories and laughs to be shared by the campfire.
